The Clarion Congress Hotel in České Budějovice welcomed these atypical guests on the First Advent Sunday. In collaboration with the Chance 4 Children charity, the second year of the “Baking with Clarion” event was held here for kids from children’s homes. This time, the visitors from the children’s homes were mainly younger children, and the tour of the hotel under the guidance of banquet manageress Olga Bakker was thus more in the spirit of points of interest.
The children started their tour of the four-star hotel, which with its 16 floors is the tallest building in České Budějovice, in the luxury executive suite with its wonderful view of the town, which in the past hosted many famous persons, including the current Czech President, Miloš Zeman. They also toured the congress halls, which are named after the most famous South Bohemian fish ponds, Svět, Rožmberk, Bezdrev, Hejtman and Vajgar and which with a capacity of up to 640 persons comprise the biggest congress facilities in the region. After the tour, the children, under the supervision of the Clarion Hotel’s pastry cooks, started decorating gingerbread and making Christmas figures from marzipan. After that, they all went for lunch at a ceremonially decorated table in the Veduta Restaurant, where they also had ever-popular pizza and colourful sundaes. “It was clear that the children really enjoyed the programme, and the afternoon was also a pleasant break for us. This year’s event was special in that as part of the corporate party for the Children’s Home in Písek in one of our hotels, the Mamaison Residence Downtown, we selected gifts with an educational and sports theme that we shall give the children as Christmas gifts. In return, the children as an expression of their thanks sent the most beautiful gingerbread to Prague”, said Dana Belušová, spokesperson for CPI Hotels, which operates both hotels. The Baking with Clarion Project was established in 2011 in collaboration with the not-for-profit Chance 4 Children organisation, which for a long time has been helping children in institutional care and in other children’s facilities, and focuses on their social integration and educational programmes. The Prague hotels of the CPI Hotels Group regularly participate in this project, and the event was also held in the Olomouc Clarion Congress Hotel. The baking event was held for the second time in South Bohemia
