The Clarion Congress Hotel in České Budějovice prepared an interesting afternoon programme for children from children’s homes in Písek and Zvíkovské Podhradí on the weekend. The “Baking with Clarion” event took place once more in cooperation with the Chance 4 Children Foundation. Young visitors had the opportunity to look behind the scenes of operating the four-star Clarion hotel, which is the tallest building in České Budějovice with its 16 floors. As well as the reception area, a tour of the executive floor with the best apartments in the hotel and the conference rooms named after the biggest South Bohemian ponds, our visitors also viewed the gastronomic facilities, which are some of the most modern in operation in the region following major modernisation of the hotel in 2012.
“Mainly older children visited us today and we adapted the tour of the hotel to their age and introduced to them to the tasks of individual professions, which they could also be employed in here in the future,” said Zuzana Rauchová, business manager of the Clarion Hotel, who accompanied the group with her commentaries. “We offer many temporary jobs, particularly in summer, by means of which interested parties can obtain valuable experience and secure permanent employment in the future. Most aid provided to children’s homes is of a short-term material character, but it is also important to focus on integrating the children into normal life after they leave the facility. We wish to support the children’s interest in working in the hospitality industry in an entertaining manner,” manager of the Clarion Congress Hotel, Martin Štolka, added. After touring the hotel the children enjoyed decorating gingerbread and exercised their creativity in making spring figures and animals out of marzipan modelling dough under the direction of the head confectioner. Everyone enjoyed a celebratory late lunch at the Veduta Restaurant at the end of the event.
The Baking with Clarion project originated in 2011 in cooperation with the Chance 4 Children non-governmental organisation, which has been engaged in activities in aid of children living under institutional care and in other children’s facilities for many years and focuses on their social integration and educational programmes. The Clarion Congress Hotel Prague in Vysočany regularly participates in the project and events also take place in the Clarion Congress Hotel in Olomouc. Baking with Clarion took place in South Bohemia for the first time.
